If you’ve ever been wandering around the streets of a Chinese city, ice cream wrapper in hand, wondering where in the heck they went and put all the damn trash cans, well it turns out that the answer is some sidewalk in Xi’an.
On 50 meters of sidewalk outside of the Kaiyuan Shopping Mall across from Xi’an’s Bell Tower you have your pick of no less than 10 evenly spaced trash bins. Apparently, this was not the result of some “Buy one, get nine free” deal gone wrong.
After the manufacturing company first installed the trash cans, the neighborhood head of sanitation admitted that the setup looked a tad excessive, but in the end he thought that a lot of people come to visit the Bell Tower and that means a lot of garbage, so there they all stayed, reports NetEase.
Even if it is functional, the aesthetic design hasn’t exactly received rave reviews from visitors. One local resident commented, “Beside every trash can, there’s a bench! It’s just too much.” A very astute visiting tourist said “If the 10 trash cans were placed more reasonably, it would look a whole lot better.” Dude should go to Shenzhen.
But, hey, if it is both functionality and style that they are looking for, why not hire a friendly neighborhood trash collecting Spider-Man?
Anyway it could be worse.
