A devastating fire has ravaged two towers in Shanxi province. The blaze broke out yesterday afternoon at the Kai building in the city of Jinzhong, Lingshi county, according to reports on Netease.
After flames were sighted by an eyewitness on the third floor, fire response teams were mobilised. Five squadrons and nearly 100 firefighters battled the blaze, yet they encountered difficulties due to the building’s height, as it sits over 16 stories tall.
The blaze was eventually negotiated, and video from the aftermath (below) shows firefighters dousing the buildings from a crane and victims being carried into emergency vehicles.
Currently, the specific cause of the fire and number of casualties is still unknown.
Last month, Beijing residents were on high alert when plumes of black smoke emerged from a power plant, while a fire at an agricultural market in Kunming claimed 12 lives.
