A 12-year-old girl had to watch as her mother and four-year-old sister were brutally stabbed to death on the streets of a Shaanxi province village, according to a local Huashang Daily report.
The three had just gotten off of a bus in a village near Baojin when the stabbing occurred. The assailant was known by the mother, and had reportedly been attempting to pursue her for some time.
The woman and her children were waiting at the bus stop for her husband to pick them up when the suspect approached them and attempted to hit on her. When his advances were rejected, the man pulled a knife from his van and stabbed the woman and four-year-old. The 12-year-old managed to get away unharmed.
The father arrived at the scene to find his wife and young daughter dead in a pool of blood. The assailant fled and police are still searching for him.
This isn’t the first time a rejection of romance has resulted in violence. In 2010, a man sliced open a teenager’s throat when she refused his attempts to pick her up after several months.
