A traffic officer who was tending to victims of a crash on a Yunnan highway used his body to prop up one of the injured passengers for three hours, helping to alleviate the man’s pain until he was rescued.
Two drivers were trapped inside the cab of the fruit-loaded lorry after it was turned over on the side of the highway in a traffic accident.
One of the drivers was dangling half-way out of the cab and was visibly in pain. Ni Haiting, one of the first traffic cops to arrive at the scene, held the man’s body up to help take the pressure off.
Ni acted as a human crutch for the three hours it took for both victims to be rescued. The drivers are now receiving treatment at a local hospital.
This is the second time in the past week a Yunnan traffic cop has made headlines for going above and beyond duty to help a passenger in need. One traffic officer in Ruili, Yunnan province played the role of midwife on May 3 when a pregnant woman went into labor after her car broke down.
