A man in his seventies has lived with his adopted daughter, who suffers from cerebral palsy, in the mountains surrounding Shenquan temple in Anhui province for 14 years, reports Tencent.
Li Yuhua, who has no wife or children of his own, began living in the mountainous area 20 years ago, when he took up his post as a security guard at the temple.
In 2001, Li found the girl abandoned at the rear entrance of a hospital in Xiao county. He brought her home and named her Chen Hui.
Chen Hui was born with cerebral palsy and epilepsy. Thanks to donations Li received, Chen Hui was able to receive treatment at a number of Beijing hospitals, but her health failed to improve.
The unlikely pair live on Li’s government subsidies of 2,000 RMB and Chen Hui’s 400 RMB relief fund per month. Occasionally, some people send them rice, noodles and eggs.
‘We’re leading a poor but happy life together,’ Li told reporters.
Every day, once can see the heart-melting image of Li carrying Chen Hui on his shoulders as he walks along the grassland to mediate.
