This past Thursday, a man who almost took his own life by jumping off the roof of a six-storey building in Zhejiang province was saved by the quick thinking of a local fire fighter.
According to China News, the incident took place around noon on May 7. Upon arriving at the scene, fire fighters began to inflate a rescue air cushion below the building, while others headed to the roof to try to talk him down.
As soon as the man began preparing to jump, Hu Xiaomiao, one of the fire fighters on the roof, grabbed his waist and dragged him back on the ground.
“I didn’t have time to think too much, but seeing he was going to leap off the building, I subconsciously grabbed him.” Hu was quoted as saying.
It’s reported that the man had decided to commit suicide due to the pressure he faced at work and a lack of support from his family. He has been handed over to local public security department and medical authorities.
