A huge construction crane in Xiamen fell after losing its balance, effectively flattening an Audi Q5 and a BMW Mini Cooper. Fortunately, no one was injured as the crane fell in a parking lot where most of the cars were empty.
According to nearby residents, the crane was on soft and unstable land, which caused it to tilt and lose balance. The most tragic part of the whole ordeal, however, is that the two flattened cars happen to belong to the same owner, who estimates the damages will cost more than 800,000 yuan.
Policemen and firemen arrived to remove the crane and the incident is under further investigation.
The story, along with a similar case of a construction crane collapsing in downtown Shanghai, only add to the long list of accidents in China speculated to have been caused by questionable construction practices. More importantly, it might make you think twice before choosing a parking spot.
