A seriously unhappy boyfriend channeling his inner Mike Tyson actually bit off half of his girlfriend’s ear during an argument in the middle of a road in Shandong province on May 5.
According to the woman, surnamed Chen, the two were in a heated fight when the man, surnamed Wu, grabbed her ear and bit it clean off. Apparently thinking that wasn’t severe enough, he attempted to bite her other ear too, but instead ended up sinking his teeth into her face.
The woman told reporters that they were both divorcees who met through a mutual friend, and that things started going south soon after they began dating.
Chen became skeptical of Wu when he’d tried to claim her belongings as his own, and she grew even more wary when he took her salary away from her before she’d even collected it. The two decided to meet to settle the issue.
When they met, Wu asked to speak to her in the front seat of his truck. Fearing that he might attack her there, Chen insisted on talking on the public road. Once Chen walked out of the truck, he grabbed her and bit her ear off as she struggled.
When Chen’s mother arrived to the scene, she found her daughter on the ground and Wu already gone. As a result, Chen’s mother focused her anger on Wu’s truck, and began smashing it with a rock.
Wu never came back for his truck and the incident is now under police investigation.
Disturbingly enough, this isn’t the first time a brawl in China has resulted in a chewed-off ear. A 28-year-old Guangzhou man lost a piece of his ear after refusing to offer his subway seat to an older passenger, who in response started viciously biting him.
