What do you do when you’ve got a lot of time and a shitload of spare change on your hands? If you’re this guy in Chongqing city, you use it all to construct a detailed replica of your beloved hometown.
Artist He Peiqi collected over 50,00 coins of 11 different types to create this stunning small-scale model of Chongqing, the Straits Times reports.
For one month straight, He spent two hours a day delicately stacking the coins to build miniature landmarks in the city, including the Sheraton Hotel and the Chaotian Gate, and clustered colorful agate stones together to make the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. To avoid damaging the currency, he chose not to use glue, and if part of his work began leaning slightly, he’d whip out a pair of chopsticks to gently prod things back into place.
“It is a painful work to do,” He said in a CCTV News report. “But once you finished it, there’s only satisfaction.”
That’s probably more than the gal who made a chopstick version of Jackie Chan can say.
