At least four people were killed as heavy rainstorms swept across Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region last week, with rain-triggered floods toppling hundreds of homes in the area.
Two people were killed and nine more injured after lightning struck a crowd of people seeking shelter at a bus stop in the Liuma village of Baise city at around 4:50 p.m. on Friday, according Xinhua. Impossibly enough, another person was killed the same day after being hit by lightning in the Guanyan county of Guilin.
One person was killed and five more reported missing after flooding caused mudslides in the Rongshui Miao Autonomous County, the report added.
Local governments have evacuated more than 2,400 people across 11 counties of Guizhou following severe downpours and flooding. The thunderstorms destroyed at least 152 houses and damaged 700 more, as water-inundated roads have blocked traffic in some areas.
The storms have caused over 41 million yuan in damages, Xinhua said.
