A local fruit vendor has attracted onlookers in Hangzhou with a hand-drawn sign reading: “5 yuan for a try; 2,000 yuan if you knock me over.” Vendor Sun Yu calls it his Qigong (气功) Supermarket, and already, 107 people have stepped up to challenge him.
Sun was born in the 1980s and graduated from Anhui Agricultural University majoring in English. He offers his customers a 50 percent discount if they can speak English fluently with him.
After his mother criticized Sun for losing money with his English-speaking promotion, he came up with this sign. Sun is “absolutely crazy” about practicing kung fu, and apparently the little marketing stunt has really increased sales.
During breaks, Sun practices kung fu. He hopes to join a local reality show to display his talents. So far no one has won the 2,000 yuan, but perhaps these flight attendants ought to give the challenge a go.
