A developer spent four million yuan building a swimming pool in the shape of the Chinese character “寿”, meaning “longevity”, at an affordable housing community in Shaanxi. The pool, which covers some 6,000 square meters of space, will be accompanied by a whirlpool, locker rooms and other facilities for residents to enjoy.
The pool, which has been under construction since the end of last year, will be open to all 20,000 people living in the residential area. (But we hope, for the love of god, not all at once.)
The “longevity pool” includes shallow areas complete with a children’s play space and deeper areas for the swimming enthusiasts. Water will be churned out through a purification system, and life guards will be hired to ensure the safety of swimmers.
The pool, the only one of its kind in the surrounding area, will be open to residents this June.
It’s unclear whether the water does indeed contain youth-restoring properties.
