A desperate fan was spotted climbing up a six-meter high pole at a stadium in Hengyang, Hunan Province on May 16 in a dangerous attempt to watch her favorite singers for free.
The woman, whose identity is unknown, did not have a ticket for the concert, which featured popular entertainers including Joey Yung (容祖儿), Han Lei (韩磊) and A-Lin (黃麗玲).
Rather than fork out to watch the singers, she opted for the most uncomfortable (and illegal) seat in the house.
Images of the female fan were posted on May 17 by a netizen with the Weibo handle “那个胖子就是你你知道吗“, along with the caption: “Is it really that difficult to buy a concert ticket?”
The web user later told reporters that the woman “was climbing up the pole near Entrance 1, which is the best spot to watch the concert because of its sound quality and view.”
Onlookers called the police after they noticed her hanging on to the pole around six meters above the ground.
It seems that it should go without saying, but climbing on top of random objects to get a better view is a dangerous and overall terrible idea. In April, two people were killed and nearly 50 injured when dozens of tourists crawled up on a netted structure to watch a performance before it collapsed beneath them.
