A temporary home for migrant workers was built frighteningly close to the edge of a 25-meter deep ditch at a construction site in Chongqing’s Jiangbeizui Central Business District.
Behind the house, workers can be seen walking on a narrow “hallway” held up only by steel pipes and wooden boards.
While such heights are nothing new to China’s seemingly undaunted construction workers, surely there’s room to place them in a building that isn’t practically dangling over a cliff.
The notoriously abysmal conditions faced by many migrant workers in China has led to protests across the country, but because they have such little power in labor disputes, many issues often fly under the radar.
