A Hunan family has called foul on authorities who evicted them from their home last month, alleging that one woman was dragged naked from the shower and a disabled man was beaten by officials.
According to South China Morning Post, dozens of officials kicked the family out of their Changsha house late one night so they could quickly demolish the building.
The family claim they were forced from their home and locked in a nearby office while the house was quickly razed to the ground to make way for a new development.
The house belonged to an 80-year-old grandmother, whose husband’s tomb was apparently also desecrated in the demolition.
The forced seizure of land often leads to violent confrontations with helpless residents, although this Hebei kung fu expert had other ideas when hired thugs tried to coerce him into relocating. While there has been hysteria over the upcoming opening of Shanghai’s Disneyland, the site’s former residents weren’t too excited when they were told to vacate their homes in 2010.
