Spanish King Felipe VI’s 16-year-old nephew Prince Froilán was reportedly overheard hurling racist insults at another student, believed to be Chinese, after he’d tried to use his royal status to jump the line.
The scene went down at a fucking amusement park, of course. The King of Spain’s nephew, known as “Pipe” among his “friends”, was standing in line for a ride called The Abyss during a class trip to the Parque de Atracciones in Madrid when he tried to cut in line.
AU News sums it up:
According to the Spanish newspaper, El Economista, when Pipe was told by a staff member he was would have to wait his turn, he went off.
He is alleged to have reminded theme park workers of his position as “fourth in line to the Spanish throne”, to which one member of staff replied that this would not help him cut in.
The newspaper reports that a student from another school group then told 16-year-old Don Froilan to give up on his quest to jump the line.
It was then that the young royal allegedly shouted: “You shut up, you f***ing chino”. (“Chino” is Spanish for Chinese.)
Sources close to Froilán confirmed with The Telegraph that a scene of sorts had gone down at the theme park, but that there was no insulting language involved. Although there probably was, because the kid just sounds like the archetypal royal brat (just look at that face).
Froilán made headlines at the tender age of six, when he kicked his female cousin at his uncle’s wedding. He shot himself in the foot when he was 13, a year too young to be handling firearms in Spain. In 2010, he famously flicked off the press in the presence of his sister and grandmother, Queen Sofia, and more recently he was kicked out of school for failing his exams for the second time.
