Freaky footage of a long, jelly-like green sea creature discovered by a fisherman in Taiwan has made waves around the world.
Wei Cheng Jian noticed the bright green blob wriggling around as he was fishing at a port in Penghu. He captured it on film and shared the footage on Facebook, where it has received nearly 800,000 views at the time of writing.
According to The Telegraph, the creature is most likely a ribbon worm, or Nemertea. The long tongue-like appendage slithering out of its body is believed to be a proboscis used to hunt.
Ribbon worms usually live in the sea, but some are known to seek shelter in cool, damp places. Though the creatures tend to measure around 20 centimeters, one was previously found to have reached a length of 54 meters. Remember that next time you’re swimming and something slithers against your leg.
