With the “Women’s armpit hair competition” still going strong on Weibo, another trend has emerged—and this time everyone is joining. Thousands of people have taken to the microblogging site to attempt the “Belly-button challenge”, which basically just requires participants to wrap their arms around their waist and touch their belly-buttons. The idea is that if you can reach your belly-button from behind, it means you have a good figure. If not, you probably need to lose weight.
Since the original challenge post was published yesterday, it’s been viewed over 80 million times, and thousands of images from men and women attempting the exercise have been pouring in ever since.
Most of the people who’ve succeeded in touching their belly-buttons appear to be thin and long-limbed, although there are quite a few people who look fit yet can’t quite do it.
One viral image that has seemed to effectively disprove the logic shows a man with a round beer-belly successfully touching his belly-button from behind.
Many web users agree that the challenge has nothing to do with one’s figure, but rather the length and flexibility of one’s arms. Still, that hasn’t stopped thousands of fit young things from showing off their midriff online.
And then some.
Have you tried the belly button challenge yet?
