An elderly woman in Guangzhou, Guangdong province who’d been knocked down by a bus and trapped beneath was pulled out to safety thanks to the assistance of nearly 100 passersby who joined forces to lift the large vehicle.
According to Guangdong TV, dozens of passersby rushed over to help after the 76-year-old woman was knocked down on Lujing Road. The rescue operation took around 15 minutes.
The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment. She suffered injuries to her head and bone fractures on her left hand. She will remain at the hospital for observation, Tecent News reports.
The senior citizen became pinned beneath the No.190 bus as it was taking off from the bus stop, traffic authorities said. The bus driver has taken away for further questioning.
In a similar feat from March, 20 passersby in Wuhu, Anhui province ran out of shops and abandoned their cars in the middle of the road to lift a car off a woman who was stuck beneath it.
Back in November of last year, another group of pedestrians in Shandong worked together to lift a van, saving an elderly woman was pinned beneath it while riding her bicycle.
