Last of the Season: Farmer’s Market @ Shanghai Centre
This is Shanghai Centre’s last farmer’s market for the season. They’ll be back from September onwards, on every third Sunday of every month. The farmer’s market is the place in Shanghai where you can get organic fruit and veg, gourmet sauces and oils, and fancy imports. Find out more here.

Chui Wan 2015 Album Tour @ Yuyintang

Book reading: Use TCM to deal with People @ Garden Books
Trina Lion, an American acupuncturist at Humanity Hospital, will be reading her second TCM book at Garden Books today. Her book is all about using TCM to help navigate people. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has a unique view of personality and communication. TCM’s system has a system of five personality types known as the WuXing (五行 Five Elements), each with different issues. Trina will introduce the Elements and their personality, while revealing that physical and mental health are no coincidence.

Shanghai PRIDE Film Festival kicks off with a screening of A Straight Journey: Days and Nights in Their Kingdom and Lilting. This is followed by a Q&A with an VIP guest and the Opening Night Party. Thirty years after leaving China for England, Junn lives alone in a home for the elderly in London. Her only companion is the memory of her son, Kai, whose untimely death has left her isolated in a culture she never fully assimilated into. Junn’s solitude is disrupted by Richard, whose relationship with her son was not what she had thought. With the help of a translator, Junn and Richard come to know each other in grief. Their mutual love for Kai transcends boundaries of language. Lilting received award nominations at BIFA, BAFTA and Sundance, taking home the 2014 prize for Cinematography.
