Four people have been confirmed dead after an apartment building suddenly toppled in Zunyi, Guizhou yesterday morning.
Three residents were also wounded when the nine-story building in the city’s Honghuagang district collapsed at around 6:00 a.m., according to Sina News. The injured and the dead were found during a 15-hour search effort.
One of the rescued victims told CCTV that she and her brother were stranded in a corner of a bedroom until they were saved, while another woman on the sixth floor said she survived by holding on to a door as the structure went out beneath her.
This marks the second building collapse in Zunyi in just the past week. On June 10, all 68 tenants were evacuated from a building just before it collapsed, thanks to a couple who’d spotted a crack in the wall and went door-to-door alerting neighbors.
