Today in bat-shit crazy drivers: a woman in Guiyang, Guizhou province was spotted driving with a medical drip still connected to her arm.
The man who recorded the footage, surnamed Xiao, told reporters that he was shocked when he saw a stand poking out of the car’s front window with a bag of fluid connected to it.
“Even though I don’t know why she did this, she could’ve gotten someone else to drive for her,” he said, adding that she was swerving in and out of traffic at an estimated 40 km/h. Xiao posted the footage on Weibo to warn other drivers not to do the same.
The 30-year-old driver’s husband, surnamed Luo, explained to reporters that his wife had caught a cold and drove to a nearby clinic to receive intravenous drips last Tuesday.
While she was in the middle of receiving her IV drips, Luo called and had her return home due to a family emergency. He never expected her to drive with the IV tube still attached to her arm.
The Guiyang Security and Traffic Management Bureau said that the IV drip driving posed danger both to her and to other cars on the road.
Luckily, no accidents ensued, but Luo says if his wife violated any laws, he would be willing to take full responsibility.
This isn’t the first, nor will it be the last, case of outrageous driving witnessed in China. Previously, a woman was spotted sticking her foot out of the car window while driving to “dry her toenail polish”. A Shanghai man was once seen walking his dog while driving.
