Over 200 millimeters of rain poured down on Shanghai between last night and this morning as more than 300 flood water extractors were hard at work pumping out water from the swamp-like streets overnight.
The city’s anti-flood department sent 51 teams and 21 vehicles to affected areas to alleviate the heavy flooding, according to local reports.
Meanwhile, the Shanghai Observatory issued a yellow alert for storms, and warned that downpour and thunder would last throughout tonight and until tomorrow (probably waking you up in the wee hours of the morning once again).
The Shanghai Police Department has reminded drivers to be careful, as flood water has left streets and sidewalks of smaller districts completely submerged, immobilizing cars.
Local opportunists, of course, have made the best of the situation.
Stay dry, fellow Shanghai readers.
