A large transport truck was overturned on a Sichuan province highway after the driver slammed the brakes and swerved to avoid hitting a dog.
The small dog suddenly darted out in front of the vehicle as the driver, surnamed Qiu, was cruising along the Chongqing Expressway, headed for Shanghai.
The truck, which carried a trailer full of fresh garlic shoots, was tipped onto its side and crashed through the central reservation, blocking several lanes. Because the accident happened at 6:00 a.m, it did not cause a major traffic jam, unlike the case of street-running pup in Guizhou.
Qiu admits to being a dog-lover who instinctively hit the brakes when he saw the animal.
However, after injuring his co-driver, leaving garlic shoots spread across the highway and causing damages up to 320,000 yuan, the driver said he may have made a mistake.
“It’s made me feel miserable,” Qiu told reporters. “I’ve not only damaged the truck, but also injured my co-driver. If such a situation happened again, I might make a different choice.”
On the plus side, the dog thanks you, Qiu. Same with dozens of local residents who probably just got a free month’s supply of garlic shoots.
