A recent graduate has spent the past four months turning a long-abandoned tile plant into an office made out of 8,500 empty beer bottles.
According to Sohu News, The designer, named Li Rongjun, started his project this past January. Since he completed the construction last month, a large number of villagers have been coming by to admire the building.
The site, located in Lanya village of Chongqing municipality, was deserted 20 years ago. The whole building takes up an area of 29 square meters. Each story is 2.8 meters in height.
“The building is more beautiful in the evening. as it is luminous under the lighting,” said a villager named Li Yan. “The whole beer bottle room has two stories with 40 tiers of empty beer bottles in total.”
The office was Li’s first project work since graduating with a degree in construction from the Inner Mongolia University Of Science & Technology. “I aim to build an office using a unique artistic style,” said Li.
“My son was quite strict with the craftsmanship of the building. He rebuilt it several times when he found either story of the building wasn’t flat enough,” Li’s father told reporters.
Li told reporters that he has plans to improve and expand the building.
