A newly constructed tower in Shandong province has captured the public’s eye as web users couldn’t help but notice that its curved design bears a striking resemblance to the famously sail-shaped Burj Al Arab in Dubai.
The building, called Mubiao Tower, is situated in Rizhao city, Shandong province.
The curved sculpture protruding from the building base reaches 49 meters in height and contains 17 floors, while the bottom of the building contains two floors.
Burj Al Arab, also known as “the sailboat hotel”, is a 321-meter-tall luxury hotel that stands on an artificial island and is connected to the mainland by a private bridge.
The building joins the likes of other rip-off landmarks in China, including a Great Sphinx in Anhui province, an imitation Sydney Opera House in Liaoning and even a Zhejiang city constructed in the likeness of Paris, which is now completely deserted.
