Another case of suicide baiting has emerged in Qingdao, where a teenage girl was spotted yesterday sitting on the the ledge of a window, threatening to take her own life by jumping off. Disturbingly, her own father stood below and provoked her.
When neighbors first saw the girl, they called the police and attempted to persuade the her to climb back inside. A rescue team arrived along with the girl’s father, who, instead of helping to calm his daughter down, began yelling at her.
According to witnesses, the 16-year-old girl was perched up on the 4th floor crying as neighbors told her to think about her family.
Her father, meanwhile, taunted the teen, even yelling at her to “jump if you dare”. She became so emotionally distraught that police had to escort him from the scene.
Cops spent about 20 minutes trying to talk the girl down, but it was ineffective. They finally pulled her away from the window when she was distracted.
Neighbors told reporters that the girl’s parents were divorced, and that she has been living with her grandmother. They said her family would not allow her to go school, which was likely the cause of her distress.
Earlier this week, it was reported that a suicidal woman in Shenyang threatening to throw herself off the 10th floor of a building had likewise been rallied on by crowds of people who’d gathered below. Tragically, she ended up leaping from the window ledge after being encouraged to do so.
