A four-year-old girl in Kunming, Yunnan was attacked last Saturday by more than 10 dogs after she left her home on her own to play about in the neighborhood. The dog owner is now refusing to compensate the badly-injured girl, claiming that he had previously warned the family about the dogs.
At the time of the attack, the girl’s mother was feeding pigs at home while her father was out, Oriental Daily reports.
When the child, called Lulu, was discovered by her mother, she was dangling from a dog’s mouth, covered in blood and crying in pain. Lulu was sent to the hospital with dozens of open wounds and a chunk of flesh missing from her ear.
The child is now being treated at the intensive care unit of the city’s children’s hospital. It took doctors three hours to stitch up the injuries covering her chest, back and head.
“This girl is very brave. Despite bruises all over her body, she has never cried, even while getting stitches,” a nurse said.
The dogs’ owner, who is also the family’s landlord, has refused to pay for the medical expenses, explaining that he had already warned them about safety issues when the family moved in.
The case has been handed over to the police, who are trying to liaise between two parties.
