Some 300 men and women averaging nearly 70 years old yesterday showed off their bods in a Tianjin bikini competition held specifically for the elderly.
According to Oriental Daily, all participants were aged, on average, above 60, with the eldest being 78 years old.
The competition, jointly held by the senior citizens’ committee and the Hetong Charitable Foundation for the Elderly, aimed to provide a platform for China’s over-60s to express themselves, promoting a healthy and positive lifestyle.
Crowds of people gathered around the stage, some of whom were the participants’ children and even grandchildren taking photographs.
“I really can’t tell these people are in their 60s and 70s,” an onlooker said.
One 68-year-old women, surnamed Wang, pointed at her skin-exposing swimsuit and told reporters: “who said we are too old for bikinis?”
Will face-kini clad middle-aged women in Qingdao take note?
