A bloody, large-scale armed fight broke out at a construction site near a shopping village in Ju County of Rizhao City, Shandong on July 24. According to villagers in the neighbourhood, the massive brawl was triggered by conflict over land expropriation issues.
The local police station confirmed that the fight had indeed erupted over land disputes, and said that around 100 people were involved. The two parties were identified as villagers of a shopping village owned by a man surnamed Liu, and the village official and his family.
