A two-year-old boy was run over by a car in Xianyou county, Fujian last Saturday and not only managed to survive, but even tried to crawl back on his feet by himself.
At around half past nine, Xiao Hai was standing alone near the exit of an alley. He was drinking from a bottle when a grey car pulling out of the alley knocked him down and ran him over with its rear wheels. Apparently, the driver was completely unaware of this and kept reversing. Fortunately, the front wheels of the car just dodged Xiao Hai. The driver then drove off without even noticing that he’d nearly killed a child.
Xiao Hai tried to crawl back on his feet, but could only push himself up to a sitting position. The owner of a delivery shop nearby quickly picked him up and tried to stop the driver from escaping. The shop owner, Lai Dehua, recognised Xiao Hai as his neighbour’s kid and immediately brought the boy to his mother.
Lai, who remembered the car and its plate, called the police right away. A few minutes later, the driver returned to the scene and was stopped by Lai. It wasn’t until then that the driver, surnamed Wu, realised that he had hit the child.
Later, Wu accompanied Xiao Hai and his mother to the hospital for examinations, where they carried out CT scans and drew blood samples from Xiao Hai. Fortunately, tests results showed no major signs of injury.
“Apart from some bruising and scratches on his right arm and back, he appears to be fine,” said Xiao Hai’s mother.
According to Wu, his car was installed with a back-up camera and radar. However, it was broken two days before the incident. He explained to police that he was just careless when he knocked the boy down.
Here’s a video footage of the incident.
