Here’s a story to warm (some of) your cold, black hearts: the three-month-old baby who’d dropped down to just two kilograms in size due to a rare and life-threatening health condition successfully underwent his first operation in Shanxi province on Wednesday after donations came pouring in from the public.
The infant, Guo Enze, was born with an imperforate anus, meaning he wasn’t able to excrete by himself and therefore was barely able to eat.
The boy’s story made headlines last week when his parents, both migrant workers, appealed for donations through the media, as they weren’t able to afford his necessary operations. Not only did the family receive over 100,000 yuan for treatment, but the Shanxi Children’s Hospital offered to carry out one of his surgeries for free, CCTV reports.
Little Guo is now in stable condition after his first operation and has already gained 0.62 kilos, the hospital said. He will undergo his second surgery in three to six months.
Jiayou, little baby.
