Chinese swimmer Ning Zetao claimed a historic and shocking gold yesterday in the men’s 100m freestyle at the world swimming championships in Kazan, Russia. The monumental win for the Chinese nation has also led netizens to discover that Ning is ridiculously good-looking.
The 22-year-old is the first Chinese swimmer to win the event in a top competition. He did so in impressive fashion, finishing in just 47.94 seconds, the fastest time this year, while beating out heavily-favored rivals.
Ning was overwhelmed by his surprise victory, but he was able to gather himself together to give a textbook Chinese athlete response to media. “This evening is the night I will never forget,” Ning told reporters. “It is a dream of Asia, of China, to get gold medals in sprint distances, so I will have more confidence to prepare for the Rio Olympic Games.”
In March 2011 Ning was banned from competing for a year after failing a doping test. Water under the bridge! Just look at that patriotic/devilishly-handsome smile!
For being both a winner and attractive, Ning is getting a lot of compliments online. He’s been topping both Weibo and WeChat with netizens calling him both a “hero” and a “cutie” many, many times.
