A court in Ningxia sentenced a kindergarten teacher to life in prison for sexually assaulting his female students.
The Intermediate People’s Court in Yinchuan found Huang Zhenxin, who taught in rural Lingwu, guilty of “raping or molesting” 12 of the young girls, Xinhua reported on Sunday.
Huang reportedly assaulted the girls after offering them tutoring lessons. Compensation was later offered by the kindergarten, Xinhua added.
In May, a man in Gansu province was executed for the rape and sexual abuse of 26 young students at his school. He was given the most severe punishment due to the “extremely negative social impact” of his crime, state media said.
In April, two other teachers in China were put to death for sexually assaulting their students.
The Supreme Court in mainland China has seen a rising number of sexual abuse cases involving children in recent years, with 7,145 reported from 2012 to 2014. In 2013, China’s supreme court ordered that harsher punishments be handed out to child abusers.
