This innovative yoga teacher has created an intimate space in the back of her car to bring the studio to her students. With barely enough room for just herself and one student, things could get a bit awkward.
Maybe you can attribute the rising popularity of yoga to stress levels; as we all know, life in China’s bustling metropolises can be a teeth-grinder. In China, yoga might be appealing to those who have practiced martial arts such as Tai chi, because both practices are somewhat about harmonising the body and mind. Momo from Chongqing says she hopes she can introduce more of her friends to the joys of yoga.
She is pleased with the number of new students she has found since changing her business model. Most of her customers are white collar workers who pay for one-on-one training sessions, and she’s happy to share her yoga matt to pay for a tank of gas.
Momo is pictured showing one of her students some yoga poses in her SUV.
Two people doing the “Downward dog” in the back of her mini-van might be an unusual sight for passers-by. No news yet on whether Momo will be driving to Shanghai anytime soon.
