A man died on the spot after jumping onto the Metro tracks at Line 4’s West Yan’an Road Station Thursday afternoon, Xinmin News reports.
Police arrived to carry the man’s body away after he jumped near the end of the tracks at around 1:30 p.m. The man’s identity has not yet been revealed, and police are investigating the reason for his jump.
Sadly, a several similar cases are reported every year. A male passenger was killed in February after he jumped onto the Beijing Metro Line 1 railway as a train was approaching. Last year, an oncoming train slammed the breaks and stopped just one meter away from a pregnant lady who’d fallen onto the Beijing Metro tracks.
