A 73-year-old farmer from a village in Quanzhou, Fujian province became a local hero of sorts after he managed to kill a giant boa armed with just a rock, sustaining only a bruise in the whole ordeal.
Many residents in Nantang village had complained recently about their chickens, ducks and goats disappearing, and had assumed that they were being stolen, according to Sina News. One villager, surnamed Xie, realized that wasn’t the case when he caught the actual culprit in the act.
“I was going to the back hill for my goat, and then I saw this huge snake who was winding around the goat,” Xie said.
A pissed-off Xie, who had also lost some of his livestock in recent days, picked up a large stone and ran towards the snake. He managed to subdue the creature by hitting it on the head, and walked out of the battle with only a bruise on his stomach from the snake’s tail.
Sina reports that the 3.9-meter-long boa weighed around 30kg, and is believed to have slithered over from some nearby mountains—its first mistake.
