Nearly a thousand junior high school students at Henan No. 8 Middle School were made to march through the rain yesterday with their instructors showing their support by sitting there without umbrellas and watching them.
According to China News, the students had joined a week-long military training program before the start of the school semester.
Yesterday was the final day of the drill and all of the trainees gathered to put on a military parade.
Unfortunately, it began to rain in the middle of the performance. The students endured the downpour and finished the parade. Meanwhile, to show their support none of the instructors took out an umbrella to shield themselves bravely getting soaked in solidarity.
The school says that the military training program is aimed at enhancing students’ ability to endure hardships to prepare them for the long and stressful upcoming school year. This should really be helpful for those times when they get caught in a thunderstorm while studying.
These Henan students showed true courage in the face of water droplets, unlike the freshmen students at Northwest University of Politics and Law in Xi’an who braved the elements to take part in military training exercises with the help of standard, military-issue umbrellas.
And these officials are somewhat less loathsome than the ones at a Guangxi high school who watched under umbrellas as students performed their daily exercises in the pouring rain.
