Falling debris from a rocket engine fell through the house of a villager in Ankang city, Shaanxi province on Thursday morning, making a nice-sized hole through the man’s roof and giving him a delightful new conversation piece.
According to the unnamed villager, the debris broke a hole through his roof at around 10:41 a.m. The man said that he heard a loud bang that even clattered his neighbor’s windows.
Local police confirmed that the falling piece was part of a rocket propeller. They didn’t confirm exactly where such a thing would come from, but according to an earlier report from Xinhua yesterday China’s Yaogan-27 satellite carried by a Long March 4-C rocket was sent into space at around 10:31 a.m. the very same morning from a launch site in neighboring Shanxi province, so we have our suspicions.
Fortunately, no casualties have been reported in the incident.
Hope he has rocket propeller insurance.
