For pet owners that want to send Fido off with a bit of style, Shanghai apparently now has a company that offers luxury pet funerals complete with wooden coffins, Audi processions and remembrance ceremonies.
The company provides your passed on pooch with its own exquisite, miniature wooden coffin furnished with a lush flowerbed and elegant couplet.
Staff actually arrive to your house to solemnly carry said coffin into an Audi hearse which then drives in a grand procession bound for the funeral home.
Once there, they perform a moving ceremony for your dearly departed dog. The pet is then cremated and families can participate in a Buddhist ceremony to help it into the next life.
The whole experience can set back a loving pet owner 500RMB to 9000RMB, but really it isn’t about the money, is it?
The master of ceremonies is a young man who gave up his job at a state-owned enterprise to go into the business of luxury pet funerals. He says business is pretty good in Shanghai.
Of course, all dogs go to heaven anyway.
