An 87-year-old woman from Guiyan, Sichuan province is seeking alternative treatment for a large horn-shaped growth that has formed on her forehead over the past half year.
Doctors believe that the woman has a cutaneous horn, a rare growth composed of compacted keratin which can, in some cases, be associated with malignant or premalignant lesions. A cutaneous horn can be surgically removed, but the woman’s family is reluctant to have her undergo operation due to her old age.
Tomo News elaborates:
A 62-year-old man in Hubei province spoke to media last year about his cutaneous growth, which he believes increased in size after attempting to use a homemade remedy. Another woman from a Henan province village has made headlines in the past for a similar condition.
