Street surveillance footage from Taizhou, Zhejiang province shows the moment a crowd of strangers jump out of their cars to help lift an overturned motor tricycle off an elderly man.
The driver of the tricycle was pinned beneath the vehicle after slipping on the wet ground during a rainstorm. The driver of a white sedan was the first to find the man, but wasn’t able to lift the tricycle alone.
Moments later, a bus stopped at the scene and people began filing out one by one. Holding onto their umbrellas, they managed to lift up the tricycle, freeing the man’s foot.
He was left in the rain but out of danger.
The video went viral online after the man’s son posted it, hoping to identify and thank the strangers who lent a helping hand, according to CCTV News.
Stories such as this typically get a lot of attention in China, where people have long complained over a perceived lack of Good Samaritans. Earlier this week, Shanghai drafted a bill which would provide liability protection to Good Samaritans in a bid to encourage more people to come to the aid of strangers.
