If you thought your teachers in high school were bad, be thankful you didn’t go to this one in Zhengzhou, Henan province, where one of the instructors actually destroys cellphones confiscated from students caught playing with them in class.
The unidentified teacher made local news recently after five students reported having their smart phones taken away and broken beyond repair.
Students know they aren’t allowed to have phones in the classroom, and if they do, they’re meant to hand them over to the teacher until class is over.
A school official said that students and parents have all agreed to a rule stating that phones snuck into class will be destroyed, but some parents have complained that the punishment is harsh and expensive.
Seeing as some people can’t even keep their eyes off their phones when their life depends upon it, we imagine that kids tinkering around with the gadgets in class is a pretty widespread problem. In many Chinese schools, students are asked to put their phones in specially made “lockers” before class.
