Around a hundred ladies dressed beautifully in traditional Chinese qipao launched a flash mob at Times Square in New York on Thursday with crowds of tourists from all around the world gathering to admire the beauty of China’s signature dress—along with some equally artistic parasol twirling.
According to Zhang Meifang, China’s deputy consul general in New York, the flash mob was organized to demonstrate the elegant beauty of traditional Chinese qipao or cheongsam and to enhance the American public’s understanding of Chinese traditional culture.
While this was pretty and all, seems like it would have made a much deeper impression if the qipao-wearers had been levitating as well.
