A month after the Tianjin blasts, Chinese authorities declared the successful end of clean-up operations around ground zero of the chemical explosion site yesterday
They also called an end to the search for the eight remaining people who had still been listed as missing, setting the final death toll for the disaster at 173.
Of the eight, five were firefighters, bringing the total number of firefighters killed in the line of duty to 104.
Next on the list is the release of the investigation report and the conversion of the formerly toxic blast site to a charming seaside eco-park that should do wonders for residents’ property values. The park is planned to be completed by mid-2016.
