After being abandoned some 23 years ago, an ancient mountain village in Zhejiang province has become completely overgrown with vines and mosses, turning it into a natural “fairyland,” and soon a tourist destination.
The Yaodong village is located in Cangnan county. Officials from the county’s tourism administration are excited to announce that they plan to renovate the village without harming the ecosystem in place.
Netizens have expressed their skepticism about what tourism officials plan to do to this lost village.
“They are just going to mess it up! Go away and leave the village in peace,” commented one netizen from Guangdong.
Admittedly, this abandoned village isn’t quite as stunning as the lost fishing village at the mouth of the Yangtze River photographed earlier this year.
