Unclaimed since birth, a boy celebrated his 5th birthday earlier this week in the maternity ward where he grew up, surrounded by 100 of his “hospital moms.”
Little Junming was born on September 21, 2010. It was an emergency delivery and he was born without a heart beat. Doctors were able to revive the boy in five minutes, but his mother refused to take him home. She insisted that he had cerebral palsy and refused to pay for his medical care as well.
Ever since, Junming has called the hospital home and more than 100 different women “mother.” Eventually, the hospital hired a full-time nanny to take care of the boy.
For Junming’s 5th birthday his moms wanted to do something special and threw him a gigantic birthday bash inside the maternity ward.. Even his birth mother was in attendance (for some reason).
His biological father shows up from time to time as well. He showed up for the first time when Junming was three years old. The boy was so excited because he thought that he was finally going to be taken home. Juanming took his dad’s hand and led him to the elevator. However, his father lagged behind and then at the last second jumped in the elevator and slipped away.
The clothes that Junming wears and the food that he eats is provided by the hospital or from donations made by other kind parents who have heard his story.
Junming says that his birthday wish is to soon enroll in school.
