Apparently, security guards at the Lanzhou University of Finance are not exactly dog lovers. After finding a litter of stray puppies, they decided to bury the poor creatures alive.
However, some students didn’t have the heart to see the pups go to doggie heaven like that. Once they heard what happened, they raced to the scene of the burial and dug the pups up, to the delight of one overjoyed mama.
Stray dogs are a common problem in Chinese towns, which has led to authorities using methods to dispose of them that some animal rights activists say are cruel.
Earlier this month, the local government of a district in Shandong province made headlines around China after issuing a pet ban threatening to kill all dogs owned by residents, even if they had an animal license.
One city in Yunnan did kill 5,000 dogs following a rabies outbreak that killed 5 people.
