While Chinese President Xi Jinping’s favorite treat of steamed dumplings won’t be on the menu tonight for his state dinner at the White House neither will “Double-sized Big Macs.” America is all about finding compromise.
Instead, the Chinese leader will be served Colorado lamb, poached Maine lobster and poppy seed bread (yum!), provided by Chinese-American guest chef Anito Lo, who says that her dishes are inspired by the late summer and early fall, which seems appropriate.
The White House says the menu is “designed to highlight American cuisine with nuances of Chinese flavors.” So green tea flavored Oreos? California Beef Noodle King U.S.A.? Black Diamond Bacon Spicy Chicken Burger?
He will be enjoying all this while listening to the smooth sounds of Grammy Award-winning R&B artist Ne-Yo, who apparently still exists. We have it on good authority that “Let Me Love You (Until You Learn to Love Yourself)” is Xi’s jam.
