Shortly after making landfall, typhoon Mujigae caused several tornadoes to form throughout coastal areas in Guangdong province, damaging property and killing at least three people.
According to Southern Metropolis Daily, the typhoon made landfall at around 2 p.m. this afternoon. A few hours later videos began appearing online taken by frightened residents from the Shunde district in Foshan which showed 100-meter-high tornado tearing through the area.
Authorities in Shunde report that at present at least 3 people have been killed by the storm and 80 more injured. Power was temporarily cut to the area as a safety precaution as the storm closed in on an industrial park.
Eyewitnesses report that the air is full of garbage which is being hurled around by the high winds which have been strong enough to fell trees and damage buildings.
